Also, on Thursday's episode of The Office, Kevin's Police cover band covers Jewel's You Were Meant For Me. A Police cover band playing late 90s Jewel. How cool is that?
The bad news is that I've been playing Jewel's Pieces of You for the past couple of days and it has ruined by previous appreciation for the album. I actually had to download a copy of the album because my cd from 1996 was so scratched. The album, as a whole, is flawed in so many ways. In my angst filled senior year of dealing with all kinds of internal bullshit, I listened to this cd over and over again. Now, it has a couple of good heartbreak, folk songs that can be placed easily among some Ani DiFranco's earlier output, but as a whole, the album is horrible.
What's your favorite heartbreak song?

This is an album question for me.
- Ryan Adams' Heartbreaker
- Tegan and Sara's If it was you
- Ani DiFranco's Dilate
What's your musical horoscope? (Put your music player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.) Inspired by Stephanie.
Destroyer "Music Lover"
Wolf Parade "We Built Another World"
Sunset Rubdown "Hey You Handsome Vulture"
Alec Ounsworth "Wings of Stone" (Ounsworth more commonly known as the front man for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah)
Keren Ann "Sailor & Widow"
Nada Surf "Popular" (Heh. I didn't even realize I had this song on my computer.)
Ryan Adams "Cold Roses"
Young & Sexy "5/4"
The National "Secret Meeting"
The Elected "Not Going Home"
Hmm. There isn't much to say about this shuffle. No funny stories associated with the songs. None of them are favorites. I don't even think I've listened to the Young & Sexy song since I just downloaded that album yesterday. In a shuffle on my Mac, odds are pretty good that you'll get a Ryan Adams, Ani DiFranco, Tegan & Sara, or Wolf Parade song in the mix.
I love Venice is sinking for their way with names and the viola.
Sorry about the flowers is the title of their debut album and with the exception of the final track is a really beautiful blend of he said, she said vocals and dense strings.
The last track, however, is just over 19 minutes of a repetitive instrumental track that is barely more than white noise. I like instrumental music--Belle Orchestra, Fifths of Seven, the Clogs--but with this track, after 10 seconds, I'm hitting Disc Skip.
